! release. When an official release comes out,!
! this file will start with version 1.0 !
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Version 0.9c
Release date : 22nd March 1995
Type : Beta-release
Distribution : Public
Comment :
- Some little bugfixes. Most of them only occured in case
that an user didn't understood the program
- Sorry, hadn't got the time to release this earlier.
Changes
- Fileselect-window is now sorted
- Added datafile re-sort on dimensions (width and height)
- Bugfixes
* Little bug in Registration-check. Didn't occur every
time, but shouldn't happen any more
* Errorhandling in a few cases improved
* Some configurationitems now only check for existance of
files when you have changed something (e.g. the viewername
and directory)
* If you don't have an indexfile, PicList doesn't ask every
time he wants to access it in the Add Disk option
* The on the fly adding of descriptions didn't work, you
weren't able to enter a description, fixed now
* When an indexfile doesn't exist, and you want to view it,
PicList now can create a new one
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Version 0.9b
Release date : 10th Januar 1995
Type : Beta-release
Distribution : Public
Comment :
- OK, no suggestions last time, but simply some small
new things that I've added.
Changes
- You can change the item where your data- or indexfile is
sorted on in the management-part when you press the R when
you view it. Copy, Move and Creation routines are disabled
when you haven't sorted on filename.
- If the paths in the configurationmenu haven't got a '\' as
last character, PicList now extends the name with a '\'.
- File choosing window now also displays available drives. They
are displayed after the files that PicList found.
- Pressing ALT-S when you want to fill in the filename for data-
or indexfile (Configuration-menu), you can select the desired
file. The path is also set correctly.
- Bugfixes
* If you changed a description in the data/indexviewer and
immediately wanted to change that item again, it seemed
that the previous change wasn't accepted.
* Very small EMS-problem fixed (Under normal conditions it
wasn't a problem, but you never know)
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Version 0.9a
Release date : 2nd Januar 1995
Type : Beta-release
Distribution : Public
Comment :
- First public release, posted in the UseNet newsgroup
"alt.binaries.pictures.utilities". Errors reported will
be solved, 'small' suggestions maybe and suggestions that
need more programming will be in versions after the first
release.
Changes
- New kind of wildcard handling for the indexfiles. Now
only one questionmark is supported. In it's place a
number may be inserted with any kind of length.
- Now you can select several descriptions of the indexfile
and create a wildcard for them. Descriptions must be the
same, and only thing that can be wildcarded are numbers.
- In the printerconfiguration you now can tell PicList to
use the default datafile or a selectable datafile to be
printed.
- Added screen at startup if PicList should be registered
- Added screen at end that it is an unregistered version.
- Text in lower box has been changed, and is now blinking
when you haven't registered.
- Added ALT-R Function. If a screensaver has been active, and
your screen is messed up because of that, you can press
ALT-R and your screen will be restored in most of the cases.
- Empty files are no longer displayed on the "Choose other
index/datafile"-window.
- Added CountryCode support for the Date and Time formats.
You can now only choose whether you want to print date and/or
time. PicList gets the countrycode from DOS and uses that
information.
- Bugfixes
* When you deleted items and then you'd choose another
index/piclistfile, PicList would mess up your index/
piclistfile. Fixed now.
* Some other minor fixes in the index/datafile browsers
* Number of pages printed was wrong when you only had 1 page
to be printed.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Version 0.8b
Release date : 18th December 1994
Type : Beta-release
Distribution : Group
Changes
- Oops, all releases weren't Public but Group....
- The Indexfile viewer is now able to use XMS. First PicList
will try to use EMS, then XMS and at last Disk for virtual
memory.
- The Datafile viewer is now of the same type as the Indexfile
viewer.
- Informationitem added to viewers. This gives you information
about the current file, e.g. number of items and info about
memory management.
- When you want to copy or move to another data- or indexfile,
PicList now first asks you if it should create a new file.
Before you could only choose to extend files that already
existed.
- When you press ALT-A within a menu, PicList displays 'About'-
information.
- Rewritten the Menu Procedures. Not a big change for users,
but it is now more flexible for me. Also the Main Menu now
has a title too (just Main Menu). Some entries got new names
now.
- Bugfixes :
* There was a problem with the wildcard-descriptions
(they weren't always recognized). Fixed.
* Not really a bug, but when you had big files into the
indexfile viewer, and you unselected an item, all
functions were disabled during some time. This was due
to the fact that PicList checked if there where still
selections made. Now I've used another kind to check,
so the problem is gone.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Version 0.8a "The first of the last" (The 0.9-series will be
'final beta'-releases)
Release date : 11th December 1994
Type : Beta-release
Distribution : Group
Changes
- Registrationfeature added. For now it's only a commandline-
option, with a line in your screen saying you've registered,
in the final version there will be a openingscreen that's
asking if you want to register and a screen at the end telling
that this is shareware. When you want to register, simply use
the /R option.
- In version 0.7c there was a 'hidden feature' for me to test
certain things, now this has been enhanced and become a normal
feature: the /M commandline option. With this option you can
disable the enhanced windows, so you get normal standard
windows instead. You can use this when you think your
videocard can't handle the enhanced windowing, or when the
windows are messed up.
- New procedure for the execution of the viewer. Now PicList
only uses about 1.5 k's of memory when the viewer is started.
The rest of the memory occupied by PicList is swapped either
to EMS or to disk (PicList will place the swapfile in the TEMP
directory).
- The Viewer-options now can be changed in the Configuration/
Files-menu, the 'memory needed to run viewer'-option has been
deleted, because it isn't important anymore.
- Again I've optimized a few procedures, everything with the
windowing should be a bit faster now.
- Working on the Edit Indexfile item. This will also be a sort
of testplace for some new things I also want to put into the
Edit Datafile-part (Which is unchanged for now). To see the
differences between the Edit Datafile- and Edit Indexfile-
window, you should either use it, or read the PICLIST.DOC
file (It's almost a total rewrite....)
- Bugfixes :
* When you tried to read a zerobyte file PicList came up
with strange errors, because that was something I didn't
thought was possible.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Comment on 'Distribution'-types:
- Private : It never left the hard-disk of my computer, so it
isn't possible that you have it.
- Group : Distributed in a group of people with the note to it
not to give it away. If you're not part of the group,
you shouldn't have it.
- Public : Everybody who wants it can get it.
